Coop - known as: Chris Cooper - Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1968.
Once Coop completed high school he skipped out on art college and moved to Los Angeles in the 1980's where he went strait work designing for the mainstream. Coop's work is popular, you've probably have seen some type of his merchandise like his smoking devil men, sexy devil-girls, hotrods, space aliens or monsters on prints ans posters, tshirts, caps, stickers and decals, stationery sets, skate boards, vinyl toys, shot glasses, Zippo lighters, and tattoos!
Coop has painted roughly one hundred posters that including rock legends designs for Nirvana, Soundgarden, The Sex Pistols and many others. The artist enjoys designing album covers and art for everyone from the Monomen to the Ramones.
Coops Devil's Advocate book is a full HD colored book full of is amazing and colorful works. When the book was released, it was an immediate sellout in November 2001. The book is now in continuous reprint. Coop has a 2nd book out called THE BIG FAT ONE! This fantastic one thousand eight page book features sketches from the artist and his personal sketchbook. This book was released in October 2002 and has been selling out ever since the release.
When asking Coop who inspires him to create his wonderful works; He replies Robert Williams, R. Crumb and Eric Stanton as his favorites and great influences. Also Big Daddy Roth, Irving Klaw, Wally Wood, Gil Elvgren, and a host of other Slicks of this nature.
In Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame they feature two of Coop's Iconic posters in its permanent collection. Coop was also hired to customize a Cady and design a run casino gambling chips for the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas.
His first exhibition was in Los Angeles in 1993 and is now show worlwide
2007 Coop had been in a car accident that broke his leg and prevented him from painting any new work. At the time Coop re-found his love interest in photography. His photograph are a whooping 20,000 images and growing on Flickr and he is collecting photos for a new book.
Coop and Ruth (his wife) currently reside in their home in Los Angeles, California.
